Reflection

Every time I sit down to count my blessings and reflect on my life, I am thankful that I live in such a caring community.  This has been my experience and the reason I stay. I love living in Lewis County.  I know that if I really need something I can truly call upon my neighbor, be it some help with making the food stretch or fighting loneliness that sneaks in every once in awhile.  I know that I can count upon my neighbor. I just have to reach out and a friend is there.

I wholeheartedly have experienced that it is a good place to raise a family more than once. For this I am blessed.

From the neighbors to the resources we have that we may not be totally aware of until we reach out.   I am listening to "Open the Eyes of my Heart" as I write this entry.  I can't help but sing along.  "Holy, holy, holy, I want to see you...."

Just the other day I was in a funk and feeling out of sorts when I go out of my house with my coffee and intending to just sit there in the sunshine and just Be outside, what do I see but my neighbor blowing bubbles.  He is a grown man and yes he has kids, but they are grown for bubbles, yet there he was blowing bubbles for quite some time and I thought what Joy he was bringing to the neighborhood....at least it perked me up and I shouted out to him, "I Love the bubbles!"  He goes, "They are for Ricky!"  and chuckles.  I was thinking the whole time about simplicity and how often we forget how to play and just be simple.  Sometimes the weight of the world can crush us if we let it, but we must not let it.

So thank you to my neighbors on Crestview Drive and Lowville who make living here a really sacred space for us.  I am often grateful that I have a roof over my head, a loving family, and a few friends that make the world go round.
